Contributions Series Number 50: The latest Lentin and Williams Index (2019)

We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2019 edition of the “Lentin and Williams Index”. This is the 9thcomplete revision of the 1973 original.

Compared with the first (1973) edition, which was a mere 176 small pages long, the Index has now grown to 1173 large pages. It has grown by 338 new taxonomic entries and 73 new references since the 2017 edition.

The Index provides the most complete summary of names, their nomenclatural status, history, and types. Additionally, it contains a useful introduction to nomenclatural rules.

The 2019 edition is intended as a digital publication only and it is available completely free of charge. Just follow the link to the AASP Foundation website: AASP Contributions Series No. 50 and download it for free

Accompanying the Index is the DINOFLAJ (pronounced “dinofladge”) database. DINOFLAJ4 to accompany the 2019 Index is not yet available.  The latest version, DINOFLAJ3 that accompanied the 2017 Index is available at http://dinoflaj.smu.ca/dinoflaj3/index.php/Main_Page. But keep in mind that it is not up-to-date.

The authors hope to continue to publish regular updates of the Index and DINOFLAJ database. So please continue to send new taxonomic papers to the corresponding author (rob.fensome@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca). The same goes for any errors that you may see in either the 2019 Index or DINOFLAJ3.
