We welcome abstracts on any aspects of palynology, covering deep time to present. To date, we have identified five focus sessions in addition to a general session. Further suggestions and proposals remain welcome. Updates will be made as presentations are being submitted. Proposed sessions: The importance of palynology for biostratigraphy and biosteering Phytoplankton as indicator of water quality from past to present (HABs, etc.) Coastal palynology Paleozoic Palynology in memory of Gordon Wood Environmental reconstruction General palynology and new frontiers in palynology Abstracts must be submitted before March 31st, 2020. Important note: oral presentations are limited to one oral presentation per presenter. If multiple abstracts are submitted, please let us know which one is selected as your oral presentation. To submit an abstract: Again, send your abstract before March 31st. We anticipate that talks will be 15 minutes including questions. If there are more offers of talks than there are presentation slots, the organizers may have to decline some offers of talks, the option of poster presentations may be given in such circumstances. Preference will be given to presentations that focus on significant findings of interest to a wider audience. Posters will be on display with a dedicated session that will be part of the program. More info on how to prepare your presentations and posters will be available in due course. The abstracts will not be part of a formal publication but will be included in the conference program that will be available online. Conference dinner Thursday May 28th, 2020 We hope you will join us for a wonderful 5-course dinner at Nottoway Plantation. The event is designed to share some of the unique Cajun and Creole Louisiana cuisine. Pre-meeting field trip (up to 23 participants – boat limitation): $ 150 Tuesday May 26th, 2020 Pre-conference field trip to the Gulf of Mexico. Topic discussed will include marsh vegetation, deltaic sedimentation, land loss, and hypoxia. We will leave early (about 8 am) from Baton Rouge and drive 2.5 hours south to LUMCON (Louisiana’s oceanographic station), located in Cocodrie, Louisiana. Participants will tour the facilities, enjoy a simple lunch at the station, and leave for a ~2-hr boat tour in the marshes and the Gulf of Mexico. We will leave around 3 pm to return to Baton Rouge and arrive on time for the ice-breaker. Post-meeting field trip (up to 30 participants): $ 150 Saturday May 30st, 2020 The post-conference field trip will be in Cajun country, between Lafayette and Avery Island. The visit will include: Registration for the meeting will not include accommodation, and conference participants are responsible for making their own bookings. The city of Baton Rouge offers a wide range of accommodation, for all budgets.
